In the Amina Hall of residence, at about 3:10am this morning, there was an attempt by a lady to steal a phone but before she could, the owner woke up and shouted which made the thief take to her heels. All effort to catch her proved abortive.
After much chase by the ladies which still proved abortive, other ladies joined them and they resolved to informing the porters and security who later joined them in the search for the accused.
At about 3: 40am, they were able to apprehend the culprit who was found hiding in the toilet after much running up and down. She was then taken to the Porter’s lodge for interrogation before she was finally transferred to Alpha Base.
At the Alpha Base, she was interrogated and she identified herself as Adebayo Omowunmi Julian, a 200level faculty of law student but according to further investigation and details gathered, she seem to have a very unique matriculation number different from the University of Lagos own which made them resolve to her not being a student.
The ladies in the room where she first tried to steal phone wrote down statements against the accused and the student whose phone was stolen also wrote down statements. Before these ladies left Alpha Base, she was still being interrogated.
At the early hours of the afternoon, it was gathered after much and careful interrogation, she confirmed herself as not being a student and with the help of the CCTV in the hostel, some items like laptop and phones were discovered where she hid them. However the phone of one of the complainer who reported against the accused this morning is still yet to be found and more efforts are in place to retrieve it.
