The Council of the University of Lagos has approved the appointment of Professor Toyin Ogundipe of the Department of Botany, Faculty of Sciences, University of Lagos as the 12th Vice chancellor of the University.
The appointment which was concluded late this evening at the Council Chambers started on the 4th of July 2017 with the advertisement of vacancy in National Newspapers. Professor Toyin Ogundipe emerged amidst other nominees which are Professor Olukayode Amund, and Professor Ayodeji Olukoju.
Professor Toyin Ogundipe is the current Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & Research). He is expected to resume office on the 12th of November 2017 as the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahman Ade Bello tenure ends on the 11th of November 2017.
Ogundipe has served in various capacities in the University prior to his appointment as the vice chancellor. The jubilation that followed the announcement of his appointment signifies that he is the people’s choice both students and staffs alike.
Students from different quarters have however expressed hope that his administration will move the University to the next level. The Press Club, University of Lagos congratulates the New Vice Chancellor and wishes him a prosperous tenure.
