The theme of the event is ‘Journalism And The Challenges Of Today’, which was brought about by the various ongoing issues surrounding journalism in campuses and even the nation at large.
This year’s summit features a certified training on media and youth advocacy and digital marketing by google expert; a debate titled ‘Regulation Of Social Media: A Necessity?’ and a panel discussion on ‘Sustaining The Relevance Of Campus Journalism In Our Swiftly Changing Digital Age’. The event surely promises to be enlightening as we have renowned speakers and panel discussants lined up to stimulate healthy conversations, feasible solutions and way forward.
Although, The Ngozi Agbo Media Lecture did not hold last year due to some challenges, therefore The Press Club is determined to make this year’s lecture one with a difference – which brought about the rebranding into a summit, as opposed to the regular lecture.
The late Ngozi Agbo’s legacy as the Pioneer editor of Campus Life – The Nation newspaper and her contribution towards campus journalism is a major inspiration to The Press Club, UNILAG. The memorial lecture is an event to acknowledge her contributions and also deliberate on the way forward in campus journalism and beyond.
