Amidst the on-going crises concerning the postponement of the 51st convocation, The Academic Staff Union of Universities, UNILAG chapter has passed a vote of no confidence on the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Wale Babalakin.
The ASUU Chairman, Dr Dele Ashiru, said that “Dr Wale Babalakin is now a persona non grata on our campus. We don’t want to see him again anywhere in the university. He is no longer needed.”
ASUU had recently asked the FG to post Dr Babalakin elsewhere if he must remain a University Council Chairman and Pro-Chancellor.
Information reaching us is that, contrary to what was contained in the communique sent to the NUC and Ministry of Education the postponed convocation was brought to the attention of the University governing council, more so, since he has been rumoured that the Council which was chaired by Dr Babalakin approved a budget of 70m for the proposed event.
