In a bid to end the long ASUU strike, The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, will meet up with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) representatives to end the strike on Thursday.
According to a statement by the Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry, Mr. Charles Akpan, Ngige is to sit in ameeting with ASUU at Abuja.
ASUU had earlier been summoned by the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan along with Ngige on the ongoing strike.
Present also at the meeting were the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Accountant – General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris together with the ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi.
“We will involve other government agencies who would also come and assess it. Discussions on it are not foreclosed yet, After the three-hour closed session took place, Ngige said.
“UTAS is a homegrown software. It is what we call local content that Mr. President is encouraging. It will be considered by the government,” he added.
