The 26th edition of Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) competition was held at the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG) from 16th to 27th March, 2022.
In attendance were 73 universities and over 10,000 athletes from all the states of the federation.
It was the fourth time UNILAG would host the NUGA competition since it started in 1966.
Highlights of the 26th NUGA games
The opening of the NUGA ceremony was attended by notable Nigerians.
Pheelz and 9ice graced the opening ceremony with their shiny performances.
The University of Port Harcourt came first with 61 golds, 29 slivers and 30 bronze.
University of Lagos and NILE University came second and third respectively.
Benson Idahosa University received the award for the best behaved university.
Two athletes from Ahmadu Bello University made their marriage proposal in the sports complex.
Sunday Ambule, had on Wednesday, 23 March during the games, openly proposed to his love, Sa’adatu Hashime.
The closing ceremony was coloured by notable Nigerians.
Small Doctor, Jawon and Bella Shmurda were part of the artistes who performed at the closing party.
NUGA competition is a biennial game and the University of Jos has received hosting rights for the next edition of the games scheduled for 2024.
