ASUUStrike: UNILAG Students Announce Day For Peaceful Protest

The students of University of Lagos (UNILAG) have declared Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022 for a peaceful protest after 75 days of ASUU strike.

Recall that the Academy Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on a national warning strike on the 14th day of February, 2022.

The members of ASUU and the Federal Government have failed to resolve the industrial action despite several meetings.

The protest is expected to start by 8 a.m. on the abovementioned day from UNILAG MAIN GATE.

All students affected by the strike in Lagos are expected and encouraged to join the protest.

Below is the official statement from the students;

The hour has come!

It is time we make our voices heard and demand fair treatment from our government!!!

It is time to demand for our rights as future leaders of this great country.

We refuse to be denied EDUCATION.

We refuse to be denied GRADUATION.

We refuse to be denied PROGRESS.

Let us come together and storm the streets of Yaba, PEACEFULLY.

ASSEMBLY POINT: UNILAG MAIN GATE

TIME: 8 A.M. (We begin movement by 8.30 a.m.)

DATE: TUESDAY, May 3rd, 2022

This is a peaceful protest.

It is for all Nigerian university students currently in Lagos.
