The new Chancellor of the University of Lagos, His Eminence Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi CFR, Shehu of Borno, was welcomed in grand style by the school management and students in the first day of UNILAG’s 2015 Convocation.
He was received at the school gate by the Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. Rahman Ade Bello alongside other top ranking members of the University, before the convoy proceeded to take him round the school. It would be recalled that the post has been vacant since the demise of the last chancellor, the Attah of Igala, in 2012.
The Chancellor who is expected to play advisory role in the progress of the institution will be installed on the 3rd of March, 2016. The Chancellor, during his acceptance speech, has expressed readiness to do everything in his capacity to help the institution grow and develop.
