As part of the celebration of her 5oth anniversary, the Department of Sociology, University of Lagos on Wednesday 15th of March held a distinguished lecture at the Afe Babalola Hall of the University.
The Lecture which was delivered by the Executive Director, Partnership for Africa Social and Government Research (PASGR), Nairobi, Kenya- Professor Tade Aina – a proud alumni of the department was themed “Sociology, The Nigerian Condition and Development: A Sociologist’s View of Discipline and Nation”.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion includes the Vice Chancellor who doubles as the chief host of the event, Professor Rahman Bello ably represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Research) Professor Toyin Ogundipe, The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Iyiola Oni, the Pro chancellor of the Lagos State University who is also a professor in the department of sociology Professor Ninalowo, Dean of Post graduate studies, Professor Akinboye and the host of others..
The lecture also witness the cutting of the sociology @50 cake and opportunities for Alumni and Alumnus to meet as a good number of them graced the occasion.
