The social science student association (SOSSA), the student body of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos on Friday witness gatherings of veteran political and economic analyst at its maiden edition of SOSSA symposium which took place at the Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos.

The event which was done in partnership with The Liberal Forum had in attendance as panelists and guests, Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu – former minister of finance, Olisa Agbakoba – former NBA President, Dr. Obadiah Mailaifa – former Deputy Governor CBN, Opeyemi Agbaje – Managing Director, RTC advisory. The event was moderated by Simon Kolawole of The Cable online News.

The programme which was themed “Conglomerate Governance in a Prebendal State: Is True Federalism the Answer?” seeks to give an overview of the Nigeria economic and constitutional structure, and proffer solution to the no-so-good state of Nigeria.

Contributing to the discussion, Obasan Taiwo, a final year student of economics at the University of Lagos suggested that regionalism as an option for Nigeria as posited by some of the panelist may not be the best decision for Nigeria to take at this crucial point in history, noting that Nigeria as a country have thread that part before. He however suggested that Nigeria should adopt a law making platform where instead of having full time law makers, citizen will come together once in a while to make their own laws.

The President of the association (SOSSA), Comrade Joel Moses Babatunde while giving the vote of thanks, appreciated the students for turning out for the event. He also appreciated the guest speakers who had created time out of their busy schedules to come and enlighten the upcoming generation on the way forward in solving the Nigerian problems in other to redeem the greatness of the country.
