Even with the ASUU strike and saga, with its effect and disruption of the Universities activities, including the University of Lagos research conference on day one; the 12TH UNILAG ANNUAL RESEARCH CONFERENCE & FAIR which held from August 15 – 17, 2017 at the Jelili Omotola hall, UNILAG, the research conference successfully came to an end and awards were given to outstanding research works and projects.

Surprisingly, Miss Adeyeye Adeyosola, a “final year medicine and surgery student” among Doctors and Professors who presented at the conference, was announced and awarded best research for her faculty – faculty of clinical science (this teaching us that; we shouldn’t be discouraged in our little efforts and small package, we can be the best at whatever we do, regardless). So also were winners for other faculties and their 1st and 2nd runner ups awarded certificates of recognition.

Well over 600 people from different institutions and organisations from all over the country presented their research works in poster and the outstanding ones were presented by the Vice Chancellor of the University – Prof. Rahamon A. Bello – who also gave the opening remarks of the conference.

Gracing one of the university’s biggest event of the year was Senator Oluremi Tinubu as the keynote speaker on the topic, “Governance and National Development: Issues and Implication” at the conference opening ceremony on Tuesday, 15th of August, 2017. Other guests included the Executive Secretary of NUC – Prof Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, Prof Felix Famoye – Michigan State University, USA, Emeritus Prof. Osato Giwa- Osagie – UNILAG and our distinguished Deputy Vice Chancellors as chairman for each day of the conference.

Speaking with our correspondent, Adeyeye expressed her joy “I am Very happy about it. It felt great to receive an award as regards my research because it was a lot of work. I also hope that my recommendations don’t stay on paper but they are acted upon.”

The Press club UNILAG congratulates all winners and the University management on the success of the international conference of the humanities and sciences.
