Good morning readers, trust your weekend went well. I am starting a series on Dairy of Oluwalonimi-the brilliant girl. Kindly read, comment and share. Enjoy!
Episode 1
Oluwalonimi was a very brilliant student who finished her secondary school, passing her waec with 5 distinctions and 2 Bs. Proud of their daughter, her parents decided to Obtain JAMB form for her and also treat her to a two-week vacation in the US. The essence of the vacation was to help her relax before she starts preparing for her JAMB exam. Two weeks was over and Oluwalonimi was back from the US to write her exam. Just like her norm, she prepared so well and of course her results testified of her efforts because she did not only pass but topped the chart with a score of 342.
Oluwalonimi had chosen Unilag and Unilorin and really wanted to go to Unilag, so she prepared for both school’s post utme examination. Even though she would have loved to intentionally fail Unilorin’s post utme, she could easily pass any exam with the slightest of preparation because she was that good. So she sat for both exams and of course, she excelled in the two. Gbam! This is it! She said to herself, pleased with her effort. She sat back, relaxed, waiting for the admission lists of both schools.
Fortunately and unfortunately, Unilorin released the admission list first and as expected, Oluwalonimi’s name topped the merit list. She had wanted to study Chemical Engineering in both Unilag and Unilorin and Chemical Engineering department, she was admitted into. Faking the smiles, she broke the news to her parents and siblings and there was more celebration at her house, because her eldest brother had just returned from the United States after a very long time. So happy that she couldn’t contain her joy, Mama Lonimi started singing and dancing. Oluwalonimi was the only female child.
This one that they are jubilating now, how will I tell them that I don’t want to go to Unilorin when Unilag’s admission list is yet to be released? It was already two weeks since the admission list for Unilorin was released and everyone is still in the celebration mood that the only girl and baby of the house will soon be an undergrad. The screening exercise soon commenced. Torn between doing her wish or making her family happy, was the decision whether to go for the screening or be hopeful for Unilag’s admission list.
