The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced call for application for the first edition of the Professor Ogundipe Innovative Challenge (POIC), a competition named after the current vice chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.
The contest, which would start accepting applications from students of the university starting February 1st, is expected to help “stimulate scientific breakthrough in the Nigerian community by engaging the minds of Nigerian students.”

Under POIC 1.0, which is to be hosted by the Faculty of Science, UNILAG, applicants are expected to invent something scientific that would solve a problem in Nigeria.
Applications are expected to go through preliminary stages of selection, proceed to the quarter and semi-finals before the final stage where students or their team would defend their invention, explaining how it could solve a Nigerian problem.
Ogundipe, who is the 12th substantive vice chancellor of the institution, has said that his tenure would promote industry-oriented researches and student entrepreneurship, among other agenda.
