A certificate of registration will be given by the Federal Government on Tuesday to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA), a split-off group from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, which has refused to end its ongoing strike, is being targeted in this effort, according to TheNation.

Congress of Nigerian University Academics is a split-off group from ASUU which has members in a few federal institutions.

The group is currently led by its National Coordinator, Niyi Sunmonu, a lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, will deliver the certification at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja.

The message by the Ministry of Labour to invitees of the presentations read: “The Honorable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige cordially invites you to the recognition and presentation of Certificate of Registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA).

Since February 14, ASUU has gone on strike to emphasize its demands.
