Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack fell down and broke his crown, and Jill came tumbling after…
In this story, let’s say you are Jack or maybe you’re Jill. Hear me out for a couple of seconds. So, you’ve started the new year and it’s not quite going the way you expected. Consistency is in the bin and you’re barely 2 weeks into January. Now, here’s me writing this hoping you don’t settle into the same old mantra, “I’ll try again next time next year”.
I came across a modified version of the Jack and Jill Rhyme, and you’ve got to read it, “…Then up got Jack and said to Jill, As in his arms he took her, “Brush off that dirt for you’re not hurt, Let’s fetch that pail of water”… You can google the ending but it sure had a happy one.
Why mention this rhyme? Well, life isn’t a straight journey. It’s filled with lots of ups and downs, expected and unexpected moments. What you can do in this new year is to become a better version of yourself who doesn’t give up easily.
Here is a mantra you can tell yourself if you get off track in your new year resolution, “I’ll push harder to become better, and become better in achieving my goals”.
Do you feel a little churning in your stomach, like things could get better in the nearest future? If yes, then you’re getting the vibe from these words. Your new year resolution shouldn’t only be only about crossing items off a list but becoming a more unique version of yourself.
If you’re getting a bit overwhelmed or anxious, make sure you take your self-care routine a bit more seriously this year. You’ve got to enjoy the process that comes with the year. I’ll end with a title from a song I hope you take to heart in the coming months, “Live, Laugh, and Love”.
