As part of a meeting with the Student Executives on February 16th, 2023, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos discussed several issues that will affect the students and the changes that will take effect in the next academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor informed the Student Executives that there will be an increase in Undergraduate Obligatory fees and Hostel Accommodation fees.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the current fees of 21k cannot sustain the University anymore, and the Federal Government is not ready to fund the institutions. Therefore, the school management has decided to increase the fees.

The VC assures affordability of the fees and in some cases where the student cannot pay the obligatory fees at once, installment payment will be allowed, but the fee must be paid before exams.

She stated that students will get the best quality of Education as well as Accommodation with the new increment.

The increase in fees, school, and hostel fees will be effective next session and will vary depending on the course of study.

Some wings in the Hostels will be shut down to commence renovations. The new prices will be communicated soon.

In addition, the University has partnered with Coursera to offer students online courses for free. The courses will cut across different fields and will be available to all students.
