American University of Cairo (AUC) became the winner of the 2024 FASU Games. The private university, based in Egypt, won 46 golds, 28 silvers and 8 bronze (82 in total) to go top of the table. Behind them: Lagos State University and University of Lagos in second and third positions, respectively.

Remarkably, they won the last edition in 2022, hosted by Kenyatta University, Kenya. In the current edition, the eleventh, according to FASU, they won 39 gold medals in swimming, a single-sport dominance that put them at the top of the table leadership.

Lagos State University (LASU), a co-host university, came second on the table with 28 golds and 84 medals in total. University of Lagos (UNILAG) won the third spot with 25 golds and 98 medals in total, the largest collection of medals in the tournament.

Two Ghanaian universities – University of Ghana and University for Development Studies – claimed the fourth and fifth spots. In total 68 African universities participated.

During the closing ceremony of the games festival on Sunday, September 29, it was announced that AUC would host the next edition of the FASU Games in 2026.
