We are calling for members and volunteers!

Brief Introduction About Us

The Press Club is an organization for student media enthusiasts, student journalists, student artists, student content creators, and student advocates. 

We are a home for:

  • the development of student media enthusiasts, student journalists, student artists and content creators
  • a community built on serious learning, shared discussions and shared experiences
  • ensuring the university community is well-informed
  • incentivizing thoughtful conversations and debates on campus 
  • justice (especially for students)
  • organizing and developing artistic expressions on campus
  • organizing impactful socio-political projects 

For General Membership

Have you always been curious about the ways news and media content are created – all the delicate operations behind? Have you always wanted to create one (and more) yourself? 

Or are you passionate about art, especially in the areas of writing, film making, photography, visual art and more?

Or are you just so (so) interested about content creation and building the waves on TikTok?

Are you passionate about solving problems within and beyond the school community – through informed advocacy and social innovation?

Perhaps, you want to grow a career in any of the practices mentioned.

The Press Club is the place for you and we are calling for new members for the new academic year. Here, you will build skill sets & expertise that will make you thrive in the age of information. 

Here, members get access to: a vital community, training & development, gigs/internships/job opportunities, and definitely, a rich experience. 

The Members We Call For (Expectations)

We are calling for students interested in: media, journalism, art, content creation or advocacy. 

Members will decide whether to pick a journalism focus (for media enthusiasts & aspiring student journalists) or non-journalism focus (for artists, content creators & social advocates). 

The journalism focus include training/development in and practice of any of the following skills: news writing; audio/radio broadcast; video/tv broadcast; news photography; news videography; (news-related) data analysis; (info)graphic design; media-related research; social media management; media marketing; essay/opinion creation (e.g writing & speaking); news cartooning; graphics illustration.

The non-journalism focus includes training/development in and practice of any of the following skills: writing (including literary/creative writing, content writing, blogging, etc); podcasting; voice over art; graphics design; public speaking; photography; videography; data analysis; visual art; music; social science research; social advocacy, initiative leadership & social innovation; marketing & PR; social media management. 

Applicants are advised that a significant level of commitment will be required as members. A vetting process is on the way, too.

For Volunteer Membership

Are you a skilled individual? Are you in search of an initiative in which you can make a significant impact and help the student community? Do you want to contribute to something larger than yourself?

The Press Club might just be that place, and we need you – task executors and expert advisors!

We are a student society founded on media values and we offer to:

  • build a community through: shared passion for journalism, media and content creation; discussions and experiences.
  • foster critical thinking, media literacy, and journalistic skills; and prepare students for careers in media and communications.
  • disseminate university, education and relevant social news.
  • provide a platform for student voices and perspectives, for ideas, and for intellectual debates/discussions.
  • promote accountability among university administrators and student leaders, and protect students’ justice.
  • offer creative outlets for students (creative/literary writing, photography, videography, other artistic expressions).
  • foster other communities on campus.

Expectations 

The club’s volunteers are to be active by: regularly executing tasks; advising & helping the club set up structures for various operations; or training club’s basic members.

The desired skills are in: graphics design; voice-over; video-making/-editing; project management; event planning; editing (with respect to writing); marketing; research; data analysis; website development; UI/UX; WordPress development; social advocacy; creative writing; social media management; and possibly more.
